This degree programme is designed for students who have already obtained an academic degree abroad which is equivalent to the First State Examination in Law (erste juristische Staatsprüfung).
The LLM degree programme has a duration of two semesters. It is possible to extend the duration of the degree programme by submitting an application to the Vice-Dean/Dean of the School. At the end of the degree programme, students must prove that they have acquired a sound knowledge of the foundations of German law and can use this knowledge to thoroughly investigate specific legal problems. This knowledge must be proven in the Magister thesis, which is to be written over three months, and an oral examination at the end of the second semester.
After applying to the University, you must contact one of the professors directly to arrange for supervision of your thesis.
